About us
MMC is an active investor, dedicated to backing entrepreneurs to
create valuable companies.
We have £80 million under management and we have committed
capital that we are looking to put to work in new and existing
opportunities. We raised a £30 million ten year fund in May
2008 which invests alongside three other funds (including
our EIS Funds
and the MMC
Syndicate) that we manage.
Our specialty is investing in early stage, high growth
companies, headquartered in the UK. We look at investment
opportunities across a broad range of sectors within technology,
media and telecoms, healthcare, financial services and
consumer.
We invest up to £2 million in a first round with a new
opportunity and we have the capacity to invest significantly beyond
this. Typically we will invest £4-6m in any one portfolio
company.
MMC was founded in 2000 by Bruce Macfarlane, Alan Morgan and
Allan Cockell who were previously active angel investors. We
are now a team of
six investment professionals and one Investor Relations Manager who
are together managing a portfolio of 13 companies.
